We’re Back!

Posted on July 17, 2010.

We may have been on summer hiatus, but OLB members were busy!  OLB members Todd, Tim, Jeff, Woody, and Diane made the trip to Houston Memorial Day weekend to perform with our sister band, The Houston Pride Band.  HPB hosted a regional LGBA event, No Strings Attached.  This concert was held at Zilka Hall in the Hobby Center.  It was great to see our Houston friends as well as LGBA friends from around the country.  The HPB were amazing hosts and a great time was had by all!

OLB members (Tim, Gerry, Chris, Mary, Russell, T, Michael and Diane) returned to Houston June 26 for the Montrose Pride Parade with HPB.  We had a great time!  We were really proud the Houston band won the Spirit of Montrose Award for the best overall parade entry!  GO BAND!

On June 12, Oak Lawn Band had its first annual band banquet at Monica’s Aca y Alla.  Band awards were given out as follows:

Sales Person of the Year – Russell Amaya

HandyMan Award – Rome Pacheco

Musician of the Year  - Woody Rowand

Section Leader of the Year –   Mason Tripp

Most Improved Musician  -   Billy Rodriguez

Medals – Honorary Band Members

Dwayne Bynum

Carol Bynum

Sara Bynum

Christina Bynum

Gerry Mason

AND

Band King – Mason Tripp

Band President, Tim Stallman, was given special award recognition for his outstanding leadership of the band this past year.  Thanks, Tim!

And then we moved!  July 8 was moving day into our new digs at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  We are so excited to be in our new space!  Many thanks to HTCC music director, Jay Terpstra for all his help making this happen.  Mucho thanks to Tim, Billy, George, Chris, Mary, and Guy for facilitating the move (apologies to anyone we forgot to thank here!).

So, rehearsals have resumed and we’d love to see YOU!  Please contact us for more information.  Even if you just wanna drop by and hear how we’re doing!
